Learn About Our Company History

Mid-South Plumbing & Electric was started as Mid-South Plumbing in 1949, by Pierre and Juanita Latourette. A few years later the two began American Electric Supply. The plumbing part of the business which started on Johnson Avenue in north Jonesboro moved to its current location at 2600 E. Highland Drive in 1966. Ten years later the electric division relocated from its Church Street location to join the plumbing division on Highland Drive. Another important change occurred in 1995 when the two companies merged to become Mid-South Plumbing & Electric Supply Company.

Sadly, both Latourettes have passed away. The company is now run by their grandchildren, James (Sonny) Hunt, Jr. and Tina Coots along with Tina’s husband, Warren. The company has seen many changes since it began 67 years ago. However, one thing that has remained the same is the principles the company was founded on. Honesty, integrity, and fair-mindedness were the principles the Latourette had in mind when they established the companies. The new generation of owners has carried on in the same manner by providing good quality merchandise at competitive prices while standing behind their products and offering good “old fashioned” customer service.

The company warehouses a large inventory ranging from light bulbs to whirlpool tubs. The more than 60,000 square foot building features a large plumbing showroom as well as plumbing and electrical counters. If you can’t find what you need in their large inventory, items can be special ordered.

Even though the company is a wholesale company, it is not only open to the many plumbers, electricians, and contractors it serves, it is also open to the public. So, whether you are a contractor building a school or hospital or you are building your dream home or a homeowner replacing a faucet stop by and let us help you with all your plumbing and electrical needs.
